Overview

CDGParis Charles de Gaulle Airport (IATA Code: CDG) is one of the busiest in Europe and is classified as the largest of the two major airports serving Paris.  The airport is located approximately 23 kilometers northeast of downtown Pairs, offering easy access by all forms of transportation. The airport is composed of three terminals, each of which offers a variety of services and facilities for domestic and international travelers.  The airport handles approximately 62 million passengers a year.

Brief History

Charles de Gaulle airport, also known as the Riossy Airport, began construction in 1966 when it was known as the Paris North Airport.  The airport was renamed after President Charles de Gaulle in 1974. The 10-story circular Terminal 1 was considered avant-garde at the time, surrounded by satellite buildings (seven in total). Each satellite building is equipped with six gates. Since the mid-19 60s the airport has grown to keep pace with increased air traffic and passenger demand.

Facilities

Terminal 1 provides a variety of shopping and dining options from Alpha Bravo Restaurant to the Swatch retail store.  Terminal 2 is home to take away dining such as McDonald’s and Café Select, the Salmon House, Virgin, and Beauty Unlimited retail. Most retail and and restaurant venues are located in Terminal 2. Terminal 3hree offers numerous retail outlets as well as food and dining options including Caffe Ritazza.

Additional facilities at the airport include pay-for-use airport lounges designed for those without first class or business tickets, as well as the La Premier Air France Lounge provided for first class and business travelers on certain airlines. Additional services and amenities include medical facilities, prayer areas (except Terminal 3 and Terminal 2G). Travelers will find Internet cafés in all three terminals.

During the height of summer travel, it is also recommended that you book a rental car ahead of your arrival to ensure a vehicle is available when you land.

Overview

Nice Airport (IATA Code: NCE) is located nearly six kilometers outside of Nice and the amount of passenger traffic it experiences ranks it as the third busiest facility in France. Two terminals and two runways process eleven million passengers annually. Numerous airlines operate out of Nice Airport, but the facilities serve as a focus city for EasyJet and Air France.
