Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (IATA Code: CDG) is one of the busiest in Europe and is classified as the largest of the two major airports serving Paris. The airport is located approximately 23 kilometers northeast of downtown Pairs, offering easy access by all forms of transportation. Charles de Gaulle airport, also known as the Riossy Airport, began construction in 1966 when it was known as the Paris North Airport. The airport was renamed after President Charles de Gaulle in 1974. The 10-story circular Terminal 1 was considered avant-garde at the time, surrounded by satellite buildings (seven in total). Each satellite building is equipped with six gates. Since the mid-19 60s the airport has grown to keep pace with increased air traffic and passenger demand.
